It was a good day today

We anchored on the reef trying to get some live ballyhoo. We were hoping to catch a Sailfish and live ballyhoo is an excellent bait. The ballyhoo were not easy, but we caught some nice Yellow Tail snapper for dinner while we were waiting on the Ballyhoo to come close enough to net.

Eventually,

we got enough bait to spend the afternoon drifting for a Sailfish. We had only drifted for about 15 minutes when I saw a bird diving and bait jumping a few hundred yards away. Often, this is a sign that a sailfish is feeding. We ran over and sure enough, there was sailfish chasing the bait. My 1st Mate Ben made a perfect cast and the fish ate our bait almost the instant it hit the water. We fought the fish for about 35 minutes and released it to fight again another day

Not the Best Picture

but when a sailfish is that close to the boat, I have to concentrate on not running the fish over instead of taking a picture.
