Because we caught 2 Wahoo Yesterday, we decided to go Wahoo fishing today

The difference between regular trolling and trolling for Wahoo is that you put a wire leader on every bait and you go fast. Wahoo have small razor-sharp teeth and will bite through a monofilament leader no matter how heavy it is. So you use wire. Wahoos are also lightning fast. One of, if not the fastest fish in the ocean, so you troll fist. My normal trolling speed is 41/2 – 6 kts. When I am targeting Wahoos, I will troll anywhere from 71/2 to 9 kts. You cannot outrun them if they want your bait

We covered a lot of ground today. Like I said we were racing around trying to get Wahoo to bite. We were pretty successful too! We ended up with 3 Wahoos and lost what I believe was a 4th one. That is actually a really good catch rate for Wahoo. it’s not uncommon to lose 40-50% of the Wahoo bites you get. I’m happy at a 75% catch rate. We also caught one of the biggest Bonitos I think I have ever seen!
