Reef fishing was great today!
We caught some live bait and fish the reef today and it was very good. Lots of bites from Delicious Cero mackerel and 3 nice-sized Yellow Jacks. Both of these fish are a lot of fun to catch. They are both strong swimmers and fight hard. Also, both are delicious to eat. Most people don’t know about them. The Cero Mackerel is one of the favorites of the fishermen on the dock. They have a high size to meat ratio and I’ve never had anyone try them and not like them. The Yellow jack is a well-kept “secret” among key Wester’s. Most Jacks are not good eating and this one is an exception. The meat tastes similar to Grouper and once you try it, you’ll love it. Fried, Grilled, Blackened, or baked, both are great Table fare
