We caught and released a big Tiger Shark today while fishing in the Gulf of Mexico
We were mainly bottom fishing on one of the Shoals in the Gulf north of Key West. Snapper and Grouper were our main target species. But as long as we are out there, it’s always a good idea to put a big bait out and see if anything wants to eat it. Today, it worked. We caught and released a big Tiger shark. We estimated it to be about 9 ft long or so. Tiger sharks can get up to 18 ft long, so a 9 ft Tiger is a big shark, but not huge as Tiger Sharks go. Also, like most creatures, they start to gain in girth more than length after a certain point, (I can attest to this personally)

Anyway, fighting a 9 ft Tiger shark from a dead boat is still a hell of a fight. All 6 of our anglers took turns fighting the fish. In the end, we released the shark boat side and everyone got some great pictures. We also caught plenty of nice fat Lane snappers for dinner. Another nice day on the water
