We had a great 3/4 day trip today.
My customers were hoping for Tuna and Dolphin. Mid-October is a little late in the year for Dolphin and still a little early for the Tuna. But you can’t catch them if you don’t try, so we headed offshore to look for our “target” species and we had pretty good luck!
Not only did we catch some Tuna and Dolphin, but we also got a nice Wahoo. We are coming up on the full moon in October and that can be a really good time to fish for wahoo. There are other conditions we need to make it “right” for Wahoo fishing. The color of the water should be blue, not green and a good east current helps too. But even though the conditions were not perfect we managed to catch one. It wasn’t a “monster”, but it was the only Wahoo I heard of being caught today, so we will take it
Hopefully, the conditions will get better as the moon gets full. Only time will tell, but I will worry about that when the time comes. Today, we are just happy we had another good day on the waters of Key West, Florida
