Small Dolphin Today

But We did See a Whale

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but this whale is about 34-40 ft long.
It only let us get within about 100 ft before it dove, but it was very cool just the same.

My "whale identification" skills leave a lot do be desired,
but from the people I've checked with, I believe this is a Sperm whale.
We were about 25 miles South of Key West in about 2,100 ft of water when we spotted it.

Beautiful Day Today

Calm and clear

Started out good with a nice schoolie dolphin,
But after that it was very tough fishing

Bonitos, a couple of Cobias and a Kingfish

Last year these folks caught a 54 lb Cobia and it went nuts on the deck. My mate, Eric had to knock it out with a 2x4.
It was quite a show.
So they brought me this custom Cobia "calming device" for any future cobias that get a little crazy on the deck.
