We had a slight change in the wind today. Instead of being due east or a little southeast, the wind backed up to the Northeast about midday today. That doesn’t seem like it would make much of a difference, but the dolphin fishing started out very good and then when the wind changed, the fishing shut down. I’ve seen it before. Just a slight change in the wind can have a big effect on the fishing.
It’s amazing, but somehow the fish can sense the change. Why it makes them stop biting I don’t know. it seemed to happen today. We started out in the same area we have been fishing in the last few days. We caught a few fish right off the bat, but then it got slow. At first, there were a lot of birds working and we found fish under them. but in the late morning, around 11-ish, we stopped seeing birds working the water and stopped catching fish.
