Successful Hog Hunting Trip
While the Southbound was out fishing, I took a quick trip up to my Hunting camp in Glades County Florida. For those of you that don’t know where that is, the directions are easy. You take US 1 North to the Fla. Turnpike, take The Fla. Turnpike to Okeechobee Rd, follow that until you get to nowhere, then make a left to no place and keep going until you get to nothing and you’re there! We have 6,400 acres of nothing surrounded by about 50,000+ of nothing. You can get lost without trying too hard.
The wildlife is amazing in Central Florida. I never realized just how wild it was. We have Bears, Panthers, Bobcats, Alligators, Hogs, Deer, Turkey, coyotes, Possums, Racoons, Armadillos, Rattle Snakes, and more. If you like nature, it’s a great place to be. I probably wouldn’t want to live there full time, but for a get-a-way once a month or so, it’s awesome
This trip was successful. I usually put my guests in the best spots because I have a freezer full of pork already. Because of this, it’s not uncommon for me to come up “empty” about half the time. I’m OK with that. it’s just fun being there. This was not one of those “empty” trips for me as I got a nice Sow about 100 lbs. Grocery Shopping the “old fashioned way”!
