Strong South East Wind Today

There is a cold front coming and it is not unusual for the wind to clock around to the North West as it approaches. So a day with strong Southeast wind is not normal, but it happens from time to time. Today was one of those days. I know it was going to be a bit “sporty” on the Atlantic side and it has been blowing out of the north for the last week so the Gulf was going to be too muddy. That didn’t leave me much of a choice.

There are a couple of spots

I know in very protected water that hold some good fish if you can get there on the right tide. So we opted to try one of those. It worked pretty well! We kept 7 nice Mutton Snappers and released 5 small ones. We kept one “Keeper” Red Grouper and released 4 or 5 short ones. We also released a Goliath Grouper, (they are protected), that was about 45 lbs. The trip was originally booked as a 6 hr trip, but once the tide changed, conditions got difficult so we made it a 4 hr and took our catch to the dock. All in all not a bad day
